Creative Ways To Use Canvas Prints

Canvas printing is becoming more and more popular – couples commit their wedding photos to canvas to display at home, family portraits are enlarged and hung proudly on living-room walls and lots of other images are being committed to canvas as an alternative to photo frames for display. There are, however, some more inventive and creative ways you can use canvas prints around your home and work – here are some alternative ideas for canvas prints:

Kids Art

Every family is presented with artwork their kids have created in school, from drawings to items created from seashells, papier mache, and such – the problem is how long to keep it and where to display? Why not photograph the items and create a canvas from the image – this way you can capture multiple items and display them long after you have had to dispose of the original articles.

Childhood Drawings

On a similar vein, many of us have retained items from our own schooldays and childhood – those things your parents couldn’t bear to part with, and you have continued to keep them for the same reason. These can be transferred to canvas and preserved in that way – sometimes it’s nice to be able to look at these things and remember past times whilst adding a “homely” feel to our surroundings.

Vintage Photos

Everybody likes looking at old photos – especially the black and white prints and the even older sepia photos – they always conjure up a sense of age and have a nostalgic air about them. Transferring old images to canvas make great displays for any room in the house.

Collections

It is a nice idea to use photographs on a canvas to capture and display different collections that may be meaningful to you – perhaps a collection of sports trophies won over the years that takes up valuable shelf space around the house can be captured in one shot and displayed that way! You may have a collection of coins, cards or pottery that would make a great still life subject for a photograph that can be converted to a large canvas print and showcased.

House Photo

This is perhaps a bit more unorthodox, but a picture of your childhood home or your first or current house that was/is yours would make a great subject for a large canvas print. A print of the outside of the house alongside a close-up of the front door captures not only the memory of these significant times in your life, but also creates a different and interesting conversation piece when entertaining visitors.

Recipe

I have kept old recipe books that my mother used, including a couple of handwritten recipes she kept with them – these old recipe sheets in her handwriting make a lovely nostalgic canvas print that invokes fond memories as well as looking great on the kitchen wall!

Invitations or Guestbooks

People use canvas prints in various guises for wedding celebrations – to display a picture of the couple at the reception on their wedding day, as enlarged image memories of the event itself displayed at home and as gifts for some guests. An enlarged copy of the wedding day programme, invitation or order of service makes a great keepsake and reminder of the day when committed to canvas and can be displayed alongside a large canvas print of your favourite image from the event.

Canvas printing is an affordable and interesting way to capture and display images of important or meaningful events and people in your life – or can just be a great way to display some of your favourite images you want to have around your home.
